Dentures, as seen by dentists, are custom-made removable prosthetics used to replace missing teeth, restoring both function and appearance. They can replace a full set of teeth (complete dentures) or just a few (partial dentures).

Dentists ensure proper fit and comfort through careful measurements and adjustments, promoting better chewing, speaking, and confidence. Denture care and maintenance guidance is provided to ensure their durability and oral health.

Some patients may also opt for implant-supported dentures for added stability and comfort.

The Benefits of Dentures

Dentures offer a range of compelling benefits that extend beyond just replacing missing teeth. Their natural appearance seamlessly blends with your smile, boosting your confidence and self-esteem.
Enjoy unrestricted eating, as dentures provide stability, allowing you to savor your favorite foods without worry. Unlike some traditional options, dentures can also help maintain facial structure by providing support to your lips and cheeks.
Adjacent teeth are safeguarded as dentures prevent shifting, ensuring overall dental harmony. With proper care, dentures exhibit impressive longevity, offering a lasting solution for tooth replacement. Furthermore, their maintenance is hassle-free, with no special routines needed.

  • Versatility: Dentures can replace a full arch of teeth (complete dentures) or just a few missing teeth (partial dentures).
  • Improved Function: Dentures restore the ability to chew, speak, and eat comfortably, especially for those with missing teeth.
  • Boosted Confidence: They can enhance self-esteem and confidence by restoring a complete and functional smile.
  • Ease of Maintenance: Denture care is relatively straightforward, involving regular cleaning and maintenance routines.
  • Preservation of Oral Health: Dentures help maintain proper bite alignment and prevent remaining teeth from shifting.
  • Restored Quality of Life: Dentures enable individuals to enjoy a more comfortable and functional daily life.

Some Customer Testimonials

“My son referred me to this clinic as he's known Dr Harps for a few years. What can I say, the knowledge Dr Harps has is truly admirable. Professional and friendly staff. Phenomenal customer service. Thank you to everyone! Best decision I've made 👌”

“I never leave reviews but the experience I have had with Dr Harps was amazing. Being a nervous patient Dr Harps put me at ease and explained everything so well. Will highly recommend for any implant work. The clinic has parking at the back and its super clean. All the staff are super friendly!!! Would recommend to all family and friends!”

“I've been using Old Park dental surgery in Hitchin for a number of years now and as someone who really doesn't like the dentist I can attest to their care and attention to their patients. I had my first tooth extraction 2 days ago and had been feeling extremely nervous, especially as it was being done with a local (in order to have it done faster). Dr Singh was great, it was my first time seeing him as I normally see his partner (who is also fantastic). Was patient, answered all my nervous questions and the process was done swiftly and pain free. Can't thank them all enough.”

Dentures are removable dental appliances used to replace missing teeth and their surrounding tissues. They are designed to restore both the appearance and function of natural teeth.

Yes, there are several types of dentures, including:
  • Complete Dentures: Used when all teeth are missing in either the upper or lower jaw.
  • Partial Dentures: Used when some natural teeth remain and are typically attached to a metal or acrylic framework.
  • Implant-Supported Dentures: Secured in place by dental implants, providing better stability and comfort.
  • Denture care involves daily cleaning, removal at night, and proper storage. Rinse dentures after eating, brush them with a denture brush and mild soap, and soak them in a denture cleaner as recommended by your dentist. Regular dental check-ups are also essential to ensure a proper fit.

Initially, adjusting to dentures may impact eating and speaking, but most people adapt within a few weeks. Start with soft foods and practice speaking to improve your confidence.

The lifespan of dentures varies depending on their quality, how well they are cared for, and changes in your mouth over time. On average, dentures may last 5 to 10 years before requiring adjustments or replacement.

Modern dentures are designed to be comfortable and customized to fit your mouth properly. However, it may take some time to get used to them. If you experience persistent discomfort or sore spots, consult your dentist for adjustments.
